Thinking of joining Toronto Romance Writers? Read on.

 

DO I HAVE TO BE A MEMBER OF ROMANCE WRITERS OF AMERICA?

Yes. As Toronto Romance Writers is a chapter of RWA, you have to be a member of RWA first. You can join RWA here.

 

WHAT DO I GET FOR MY MEMBERSHIP?
Benefits of membership include our monthly meetings with guest speakers, our monthly newsletter, access to our library of books and tapes, critique groups, and access to TRW's lively email message board. And don't forget that you become a member of a network of like-minded writers, offering friendship and advice during the ups and downs of a writing career. To learn more, go to our Guest Page.

 

HOW DO I JOIN, AND WHAT DOES IT COST?

The yearly fee is $50. Fill out the form on our Join page and send it in with your fee.

 

I'M NOT PUBLISHED, CAN I JOIN?

Of course! We accept published and unpublished members.

 

I HAVEN'T FINISHED WRITING MY BOOK, CAN I JOIN?

Yes. If you are serious about a career writing romance, you are welcome at TRW.

 

WHAT IS RWA AND WHY DO I JOIN?

Romance Writers of America is a North America-wide network of published and unpublished romance writers. Member benefits include newsletters, a monthly magazine, many active email groups, a national conference every summer, writing contests, and critique groups. If you are serious about a career writing romance, RWA is an excellent place to start.

 

I ONLY WRITE A CERTAIN KIND OF ROMANCE, E.G. PARANORMAL. IS THIS A PROBLEM?

Not at all. At TRW we have romance writers of all kinds.

 

I CAN'T ATTEND ALL THE MEETINGS. IS THIS A PROBLEM?

Not at all. TRW has many long-distance benefits, like the email boards and newsletters. Critique groups can also be conducted by email.

 

CAN I TRY ONE MEETING AS A GUEST?

Yes, you can. If you have never attended before, your first trial meeting is free. If you're still not certain, you can attend two further trial meetings for $5 each before joining. Contact us if you have any questions. (Exceptions to the above: Members-only meetings, and if we are charging everyone a fee for the guest speaker.)

 

HOW DO I CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP?

You can cancel at any time. Contact us for cancellation.
